Mary is an artist and social entrepreneur whose passion project, The Takatak Project, aims to help artisans of Paete by elevating our awareness and appreciation of the Takas (paper mache horses), a unique Filipino craft which has been the livelihood of most Paete residents. Through traditional as well as modern designs created, The Takatak Project hopes to showcase the Filipino talent as well as give new generation Filipinos a greater appreciation of our traditions and culture.
Join her and Takatak Project as they show the basics of creating this unique craft on May 16 & 17. Each session will provide participants a chance to learn how takas are made from the mold, as well as give them a chance to create their very own. There will also a be a painting session afterwards where they will get a chance to paint their takas. Included in the session is a “Filipino high tea”, an array of Filipino merienda treats with unlimited iced lemongrass tea, Coffee or Tsokolate for the participants to indulge in while creating their masterpieces.
